SJV Annual FUND FAQ
The Annual Fund Campaign is an initiative to solicit unrestricted contributions from parents, grandparents, alumni, parents of alumni, faculty, staff, parishioners, and friends of Saint John Vianney School to defray the costs of education that tuition revenue alone does not cover. The Annual Fund helps us to make up the difference between what it costs to educate a child and our tuition.
The Saint John Vianney Catholic School Annual Fund benefits all members of the school community by
providing financial support for tuition assistance, exceptional academic curricula and engaging
extracurricular programs.
One of our goals it to make education at St. John Vianney available to as many students as possible, so we work hard to minimize tuition increases. Raising tuition to meet all costs would mean that many families would be unable to send their children to SJV. Additionally, contributions to the Annual Fund are taxdeductible, whereas tuition is not. This gives each family an opportunity to take advantage of tax incentives related to donating through the Annual Fund.
St. John Vianney School, as part of the Catholic Diocese of Nashville, is a 501(c)(3) organization and your donations are tax deductible, in accordance with current laws. (Contact your financial advisor for your specific information.) All donors will receive receipts and letters of acknowledgement for their contributions to the SJV Annual Fund.
Every gift is important in terms of reaching our overall goals. We will be delighted with any gift you can make, as it demonstrates your commitment to and confidence in St. John Vianney School.
The Annual Giving Campaign receives funds directly from the donor and the donor receives no goods or services in exchange for his or her gift. As a 501 (c)(3) charity, the tax benefits of giving to the Annual Fund are attractive. There is very little overhead to the Annual Giving Campaign, so the funds collected go directly to school operations. Additionally, many corporations match these types of donations, which can more than double your gift.
Other SJV fundraisers are events, where the donor receives goods or services for their purchase/donation and are meant to fund the activities planned throughout the year in support of the school. For example, the Tee Off for Technology raises funds for the purchase, maintenance and upgrade of technology for our students and teachers. The Spring Party Gras and Auction raise funds for tuition assistance. Additionally, the Community in Action (CIA) fundraisers like the Fun Run and Bake Sale support the purchase of classroom instructional materials, athletic team supplies, and other needed resources for our students.
Our ultimate goal would be to become so successful in fundraising via the Annual Giving Campaign that we can reduce the number of other fundraising activities.
